Under the patronage of the President of Al-Qadisiyah University, Professor Dr. Kazem Jabir Al-Jubouri, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Education, Professor Dr. Star Hamid Hamza Al-Janabi, the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit at the College of Education organized a scientific seminar titled “Suicidal Thoughts Among Youth: Causes and Treatments” in Dr. Abdul Hamid Al-Khazraji Hall. The seminar featured presentations by Assistant Professor Dr. Khaled Abu Jassim Abdul and Lecturer Dr. Huda Abbas.
The seminar highlighted several causes of suicide, including personal factors such as suffering from mental illnesses, losing a pet or a loved one, or failing in a romantic relationship. It also addressed family dynamics that can lead to a lack of self-confidence, isolation, introversion, and excessive, unjustified pressures on adolescents, as well as the causes related to the excessive use of medications and narcotics without recovery.
