Under the supervision of Professor Munir Abdul Amir Abdul Fattah Al-Fatlawi, Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine at Al-Qadisiyah University, the Microbiology Department organized a discussion session on the isolation and molecular diagnosis of free-living Naegleria species from various sources, attended by Dr. Ghaida Abbas Jassim.

The session aimed to isolate and molecularly diagnose free-living Naegleria species from different sources, including soil, water, and some clinical cases in humans and animals, as they are considered opportunistic parasites that cause multiple diseases in humans and animals.

The session included an introduction to the habitats of these opportunistic parasites, methods for culturing them in the laboratory, and the most important media for their growth. It also presented numerous pathological cases in humans and animals that were diagnosed and confirmed molecularly, with these species recorded in the gene bank.
