The Educational and Psychological Guidance Unit, in cooperation with the Rehabilitation and Employment Division at the College of Law, Al-Qadisiyah University, held a scientific seminar entitled “Supporting the Environment and Sustainable Development.” The seminar featured presentations by Dr. Huda Saadoun Lafteh, Dr. Laila Hamza Radhi, and students Ali Hussein Ali Jassim and Mansour Nadhim Awad.
The seminar aimed to raise environmental awareness among individuals and institutions regarding the importance of environmental protection and to promote the concept of sustainable development as a strategic option that balances the present and the future. It also addressed the dangers of pollution and climate change to humans and natural resources, encouraged positive behaviors such as conserving water and energy, and highlighted the role of law in protecting the environment and combating environmental crimes.
The seminar recommended activating environmental laws and tightening oversight of violators, integrating environmental and sustainable development concepts into school curricula, launching continuous awareness campaigns through media and educational institutions, and encouraging the use of renewable energy and reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
