The College of Engineering at Al-Qadisiyah University organized a scientific workshop entitled “Reducing Waste and Enhancing Sustainability: Using Palm Waste in Paper Manufacturing,” presented by Dr. Ahmed Tarish.
The workshop addressed several strategic themes aimed at integrating academic work with the requirements of sustainable development, valuing agricultural waste, and transforming palm waste (palm fronds, leaves, and fibers) from an environmental burden into a valuable economic resource. It also covered cellulose extraction techniques and explained the chemical and mechanical processes for converting natural palm fibers into high-quality paper pulp.
