Under the patronage of the President of Al-Qadisiyah University, Professor Dr. Rahi Kalaf Mahdi Al-Yasiri, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Science, Professor Dr. Salwan Ali, the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit at the College of Science, in cooperation with the Counseling Center for Psychological and Social Services at Al-Qadisiyah University and the Family Counseling Center of the Imam Hussein Holy Shrine, held a scientific workshop entitled “Promoting Mental Health Awareness Among University Students.” The workshop was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Hussam Muhammad Munshid and Dr. Alaa Taha Yassin, with Mr. Taif Mazhar Muslim serving as rapporteur.
The workshop aimed to enhance university students’ awareness of the concept of mental health, develop their skills in managing stress and emotions, and instill healthy behavioral practices that support their psychological well-being both within and outside the university environment.
Key recommendations included creating an environment that respects the individual and reduces the stigma associated with mental health, encouraging a culture of dialogue and acceptance of others, providing space for expression, organizing group activities that promote cooperation and teamwork, and disseminating self-respect.
