Under the patronage of the President of Al-Qadisiyah University, Professor Dr. Kazem Al-Jubouri, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Education, Professor Dr. Sattar Al-Janabi.
The Department of Arabic Language at the College of Education at Al-Qadisiyah University held a poetry festival on the occasion of the International Day of the Arabic Language at Al-Farahidi Hall for Postgraduate Studies.
The ceremony was moderated by Professor Dr. Rahman Gharkan, introducing the language of heaven with a speech entitled (From the Arabic of the Qur’an to the Arabic of Poetry).
The festival was also opened with a speech by the Head of the Department of Arabic Language, Assistant Professor Dr. Zaki Abbas Radhi, who stressed the necessity of preserving Arabic; as a symbol of identity and existence in light of contemporary challenges, praising the role of Arabic jurists and writers in establishing a scientific and literary edifice during its civilizational journey. This was followed by a scientific lecture presented by the Chairman of the Committee for the Preservation of the Integrity of the Arabic Language at Al-Qadisiyah University, Professor Dr. Latif Hatem Al-Zamili, who revealed the problems of Arabic at the present time, as it absorbed the secrets of revelation, but it became too narrow for the needs of the present era due to civilizational and intellectual problems, stressing the importance of scientific methods in contemporary linguistic research.
After that, Professor Dr. Rahman Gharkan moved to the Oasis of Poetry and Poets, to present a bouquet of Arabic flowers, as the poet Dr. Madih Al-Suwaidi, the poet Dr. Ali Al-Madani, the poet Dr. Abdul-Kazem Jabr, and the poet Dr. Sadiq Al-Turahi contributed poems characterized by love of the homeland and singing of the Arab exploits and glories. In conclusion, certificates of appreciation were distributed to the contributors and participants.
