Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Kazem Jabr Al-Jubouri, President of Al-Qadisiyah University, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Munir Abdul Amir Abdul Fatlawi, Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine..
The Department of Surgery and Obstetrics at the College held a discussion session on reproductive efficiency.
Presented in the session: Assistant Professor Ali Habib Jaber.
The session aims to: Identify reproductive efficiency, or pregnancy rate, as the percentage of cows eligible for breeding that become pregnant during an estrus cycle (~ 21 days), and determines the period between birth and pregnancy.
The session included: It is possible to significantly enhance reproductive efficiency by reducing the time interval between successive pregnancies, which is represented by reproducing for the first time at an early age and reproducing at the earliest opportunity after each pregnancy, and in this way the efficiency of reproductive life increases.
The seminar recommended that improving reproductive efficiency depends on the successful completion of the following events: (1) the heifer must reach puberty before the start of the breeding season, (2) conceive early in the breeding season, (3) give birth without assistance, (4) the calf must survive to market.
