Under the patronage of the President of Al-Qadisiyah University, Professor Dr. Kazem Jabr Al-Jubouri, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Archaeology, Assistant Professor Dr. Rajwan Faisal Al-Miyali, the College of Archaeology at Al-Qadisiyah University organized a seminar titled (Warka: A World Heritage Site: Restoration and Maintenance Works Between 2016 and 2023). The seminar featured a presentation by Professor Sulwan Adnan Al-Ahmar, Director of the Inspectorate of Antiquities and Heritage in Al-Muthanna.

The seminar addressed the restoration and maintenance works in the archaeological city of Warka, a UNESCO World Heritage site, from 2016 to 2023. The discussion covered all the works carried out on the temples and buildings visible in the archaeological city, including reinforcement works in the Ziggurat (E-anna) using locally produced mud bricks within the archaeological city, as well as restoration works in the White Temple and Ziggurat (Anu). These efforts involved reinforcing parts that had collapsed due to rain and filling the gaps caused by weather conditions.

The seminar also discussed the rehabilitation of the archaeological city after its inclusion in the World Heritage List since June 2016. It concluded that these works comply with the specifications and guidelines set by UNESCO and the World Heritage List, and that these efforts will contribute to preserving the site as a tourist destination capable of accommodating visitors from all over the world.
