Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Fine Arts, Professor Dr. Kazem Nuwair Al-Zubaidi, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Fine Arts at Al-Qadisiyah University held a seminar titled “The Arabic Language and the Challenges of the Present.” The seminar featured lectures by Professor Dr. Sarhan Jafaat and Dr. Alaa Al-Saadi.
The seminar aimed to highlight the main challenges facing the Arabic language in the digital realm, computational language, and media, as well as ways to develop and enhance Arabic content and the key initiatives that need to be undertaken. It also addressed the characteristics of the language, the challenges of translation and transferring it from other languages, and the challenges of publishing and teaching it. Those who engage with the language, whether in writing, journalism, translation, or literature, face significant challenges, especially in dealing with daily content. Other challenges include dialectal diversity and foreign influences, the lack of the role of universities and research centers in digitizing manuscripts, for example, and the studies and research conducted in these institutions. This is also related to the issue of resources and their scarcity, among other challenges.
