Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Kazem Jaber Al-Jubouri, President of Al-Qadisiyah University, and supervised by Professor Dr. Munir Abdul Amir Abdul Fattah Al-Talawi, Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, the Surgery and Obstetrics Department at the college organized a seminar titled “Surgical Sterilization in Small Animals,” presented by Professor Dr. Thair Alwan Abd.
The seminar aimed to understand the sterilization process as a surgical procedure used to describe the removal of the uterus and ovaries, rendering the female animal completely sterile. The procedure may involve the removal of the ovaries only. The seminar also covered the indications for performing the surgical procedure, which include preventing the occurrence of estrus in the animal, preventing untreatable uterine infections, and also the removal of the uterus or ovaries containing cancerous tumors.
