Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Kazem Jabr Al-Jubouri, President of Al-Qadisiyah University, and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Munir Abdul Amir Abdul-Fattah, Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, the Department of Diseases and Poultry Diseases at the college organized a workshop titled “Pathology of Infectious Bronchitis in Birds,” presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Israa Najm Abdullah Al-Abadi.

The workshop included discussions on infectious bronchitis as a highly contagious acute disease affecting the upper respiratory system in chickens. In addition to respiratory signs, a decrease in egg production and quality are common clinical signs. Kidney inflammation can occur due to some strains of the infectious bronchitis virus, which is a coronavirus that affects birds and causes the disease. Live, attenuated, and killed (inactivated) vaccines are available; however, different types of the infectious bronchitis virus do not provide cross-protection, complicating control efforts.
