The Department of Public Law at the College of Law at Al-Qadisiyah University held a scientific symposium entitled (The Impact of Political Agreements on the Political System in Iraq) presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Muhammad Abdul Hamza Khawan and the symposium was managed by Professor Dr. Fadhel Jabir Lafta. The symposium aimed to introduce the Iraqi political system as an independent legally organized institution linked to the reality of its cultural and spiritual civilizational society, i.e. the environment in which it resides. The differences between political systems from one country to another were also clarified and the most important characteristics of political systems were stated, which are (structure, i.e. the existence of a constitution that defines the nature of the work of this system, function, specialization, complexity in composition, i.e. it is a sub-system of other social, economic and religious systems, etc.). The symposium recommended supporting the state’s executive, legislative and judicial institutions, supporting political and partisan pluralism, organizing free and fair periodic elections, eliminating financial and administrative corruption in all state institutions, and relying on cultural and scientific elites in managing state institutions away from partisan and sectarian quotas.
