As part of the activities of the Global Entrepreneurship Week, the College of Arts at Al-Qadisiyah University holds a scientific symposium on reading from the perspective of Jacques Lacan’s psychological theory of Oscar Wilde’s novel The Picture of Dorian Cray.

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Kazem Jabr Al-Jubouri, President of Al-Qadisiyah University, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Nabil Omran Al-Khalidi, Dean of the College of Arts, the College of Arts held a scientific symposium entitled (Reading from the perspective of Jacques Lacan’s psychological theory of Oscar Wilde’s novel The Picture of Dorian Cray) in which Prof. Dr. Arej Muhammad Jawad lectured. The symposium aimed to introduce the psychological theory of the French philosopher Jacques Lacan and take it into consideration when reading the only novel written by Oscar Wilde, The Picture of Dorian Cray. The symposium came out with a set of recommendations, including that the novel can be studied from a different perspective related to digital theory and geographical criticism of the city of London, the main place where the events of the novel take place.
