The College of Administration and Economics at Al-Qadisiyah University held a scientific seminar on the Economic Importance and Geopolitical Challenges of the Development Road

The Department of Economics at the College of Administration and Economics at Al-Qadisiyah University held its first scientific seminar on the Economic Importance and Geopolitical Challenges of the Development Road in Ibn Khaldun Hall. The seminar was presented by the experienced professor Dr. Salem Abdul Hassan Rassan and was managed by the head of the Economics Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Manaf Marza Nima, with Assistant Professor Dr. Alaa Abbas Dakhel as the rapporteur.

The seminar aimed to highlight one of the important topics in the Iraqi economy in light of aspirations to diversify the economy, as the Development Road is an Iraqi project for a railway connecting Turkey and Europe in the north to the Arabian Gulf in the south, for transporting goods between the Gulf and Europe. The project will benefit the region economically and will transport goods from Europe to the Gulf and vice versa through Iraq. It was mentioned that its cost reaches 17 billion dollars and will be completed in a record time, starting from 2024 until 2028.

The seminar included an explanation of the main objectives of the Economic Development Road, as it is the strategic route for transporting various types of goods from Europe to Turkey through Iraq and to the Gulf. Gulf goods and resources pass from the Gulf through Iraq, then Turkey and Europe, which contributes to improving the reality of the Iraqi economy and enhancing its capabilities.
