The Biochemistry Department at the College of Medicine at Al-Qadisiyah University held a workshop on how to perform electronic plagiarism detection using the Turnitin program and addressing plagiarism through paraphrasing, presented by Dr. Ahmed Ghudban Thuban.
The workshop aimed to define electronic plagiarism and understand the concept of plagiarism and its importance in maintaining academic integrity, as well as to familiarize participants with the Turnitin program, exploring its mechanisms and tools for detecting plagiarism.
The main conclusions included raising awareness about the importance of academic integrity and enabling participants to use Turnitin effectively in their research, as well as providing practical tools and guidelines for addressing plagiarism. The key recommendations from the workshop emphasized the continuation of using plagiarism detection programs as part of the academic research process and developing skills in paraphrasing and academic writing to reduce plagiarism.
