Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Kazem Jabr Al-Jubouri, President of Al-Qadisiyah University, and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Munir Abdul Amir Abdul Fattah, Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, the Department of Veterinary Microbiology organized a scientific course on malaria, its diagnosis, treatment methods, and the epidemiological situation in Iraq, presented by M.M. Sara Razaq Khudhair.
The course included several key topics, including the types of parasites that cause malaria in humans, as well as the methods of transmission of the infection to humans. The life cycle of the parasite and the ways the infection is transmitted to humans and the invertebrate host responsible for it were clarified.
The course also highlighted the symptoms of malaria infection, which often cause chills and fever, in addition to headaches and muscle pain, and identified the groups at risk of malaria infection. Diagnosis was based on the symptoms experienced by the patient, along with clinical examinations by conducting a blood test and making a smear to confirm the presence of the malaria parasite in the blood, as well as the most important preventive measures to limit the spread of the disease.
