Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Ali Abdul-Hussein Al-Khalidi, the Department of Communications and Electronics Engineering at the College of Engineering at Al-Qadisiyah University organized a scientific symposium entitled (The Next Generation of Mobile Phone Networks: 6G / 5G Space Networks) in the Postgraduate Discussion Hall, in which Dr. Alaa Abdul-Hussein Rafis and Dr. Haider Mazen Makki lectured. The symposium discussed the challenges associated with the application of phased-array antennas (Phased-Array Antenna) necessary to achieve narrow beam formation in terrestrial and non-terrestrial networks. The symposium also reviewed radio beamforming techniques (Beamforming) in fifth and sixth generation networks (5G / 6G) using non-terrestrial networks (NTNs) based on satellites, and highlighted developments in material technologies that enable the manufacture of small and effective massive MIMO antennas, such as nano arrays that include 1024 × 1024 elements and occupy an area of 1 mm² at terahertz frequencies (1-10 terahertz). It is worth noting that this symposium includes College of Engineering activities during the Global Entrepreneurship Week
