Under the patronage of the President of Al-Qadisiyah University, Professor Dr. Kazem Jaber Al-Jubouri, and supervised by the Dean of the College of Archaeology, Assistant Professor Dr. Rajwan Faisal Al-Miyali, the College of Archaeology organized a discussion session titled “The Role of Women in Textile Production during the Third Dynasty of Ur,” presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Mohannad Ashour Shanawa.
The discussion session addressed the role of the economy and the importance of industry in Mesopotamia, with a focus on the role of industry in driving the economy during the Third Dynasty of Ur. Special attention was also given to the textile industry, which constituted an essential part of the lives of the inhabitants of Mesopotamia, as the importance of clothing was considered equal to that of food. Accordingly, the ruling authority during the Third Dynasty of Ur paid great attention to this industry.
