Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Kazem Jabr Al-Jubouri, President of Al-Qadisiyah University, and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Munir Abdul Amir Abdul Fattah, Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, the Microbiology Department of the college organized a scientific discussion session on the relationship between cat ownership and the incidence of certain diseases, presented by Assistant Professor Kholoud Hamdan Fahd.

The session aimed to review the most important diseases transmitted by cats, including bacterial, viral, parasitic, and fungal diseases. It also highlighted that cat ownership and care are preferred habits for many people, and cats are pets that provide emotional support and a positive impact on mental and psychological health. However, they can also cause or transmit certain diseases, with varying degrees of severity for infectious cat diseases in humans, some of which may be mild and quickly resolved, while others may lead to serious complications. Nonetheless, there are precautions that can be taken to reduce the risk of diseases caused by cats.
