The College of Law at Al-Qadisiyah University organized a workshop titled “Research Skills and Library Visits” as part of the training program for graduate students in the research phase, with the lecture delivered by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Hamdallah Ahmed.

The workshop aimed to demonstrate that dealing with the legal library is fundamental to success in any academic or research task in the field of legal studies and is an essential necessity for researchers to familiarize themselves with the mechanisms of library cataloging and the systems of internal and external borrowing of sources and references. The workshop also aimed to highlight that library visits are a key factor in the success of a researcher’s task, as they enable them to access previous research in the same specialty or in the general field.

The workshop indicated that digital libraries are no less significant than traditional libraries, as they represent a technical and technological advancement in the preservation of scientific references and their availability to researchers, facilitating the reading process in different languages.

The workshop concluded that research skills cannot rely solely on individual or private aspects without the library visit, which represents the initial step for writing research in a legal and methodical manner. Therefore, a successful researcher is characterized by preparing a comprehensive plan for library visits, whether within the university they work in or in other similar colleges in the same specialty.

The workshop recommended that researchers pay attention to library visits and the importance of borrowing in enhancing the quality of research. It also recommended the necessity of accuracy when referring to electronic sources available in digital libraries to avoid scientific plagiarism or similarities in scientific views and ideas.
