In the presence of the Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Science at Al-Qadisiyah University, Assistant Professor Dr. Bashir Shakir Al-Awadi, and the Head of the Iraqi Academics in Diwaniya, Professor Dr. Sajit Al-Moussawi, the Studies and Planning Unit at the College of Physical Education and Sports Science at Al-Qadisiyah University held a lecture on “Human Trafficking and Its Negative Effects on Society,” presented by Professor Dr. Riyad Jumaa Hassan.
The lecture aimed to highlight the crime of trafficking and modern slavery and to explain how traffickers exploit their victims. It included an introduction to the international laws established by the United Nations, which most countries have ratified, and the reporting methods in cases of human trafficking.
The lecture concluded that internationally ratified laws remain unable to curb the phenomenon of human trafficking but can only reduce it. The lecture recommended the necessity of activating the role of society and its organizations and educating the youth about this issue, as well as incorporating stronger laws in the constitution to prevent and combat this crime.
