The Women’s Affairs Unit, in collaboration with the Rehabilitation and Employment Unit at the College of Law at Al-Qadisiyah University, organized the scientific seminar titled “Organizing Work for Female Workers and Young Laborers in Iraqi Labor Law,” presented by Dr. Nashat Muhammad Lafteh and managed by Assistant Professor Dr. Sundus Muhammad Abbas.

The seminar aimed to highlight the rights and privileges of female workers under Iraqi Labor Law No. 37 of 2015.

The seminar concluded that despite the legal provisions stipulated in the existing labor law, female workers in Iraq still suffer from the erosion of their rights due to the employment of women without registration in the social security departments spread across Baghdad and the provinces.

The seminar recommended conducting more workshops, seminars, and academic studies to clarify the mechanisms for assisting women in obtaining the rights and privileges mentioned in the existing Iraqi labor law, encouraging female workers to register with the social security department, and conducting field visits by the Occupational Health and Safety Department in Al-Diwaniyah to the sites and factories employing female workers, especially the brick factories spread across the western part of Al-Diwaniyah province, to assess the conditions surrounding female workers and prepare reports to be sent to the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs to direct workplaces that violate international conventions and the provisions of the existing labor law concerning the rights and privileges of female workers.
