The Department of Road and Transportation Engineering at the College of Engineering at Al-Qadisiyah University organized a scientific workshop titled “Artificial Intelligence and Its Applications in Road Engineering” in the main hall of the college, presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Alaa Taima and Engineer Rania Ihsan.
The workshop aimed to explain the applications of artificial intelligence in road engineering, the future of artificial intelligence in this field, and the ethical considerations and constraints regarding the use of artificial intelligence in road engineering.
The workshop demonstrated that by collecting and analyzing vast amounts of data through sensors and cameras, intelligent transportation systems can predict traffic patterns, identify congestion in real-time, and optimize traffic flow accordingly. This proactive approach to traffic management not only reduces travel time but also decreases the likelihood of accidents, creating a safer travel environment for everyone on the road.
The workshop recommended the necessity of using artificial intelligence and deep learning and investing in its immense potential in road engineering, as well as organizing similar workshops to increase awareness and education regarding its application in the academic university landscape.
