Under the patronage of the President of Al-Qadisiyah University, Professor Dr. Rahi Kalaf Mahdi Al-Yasiri, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Science, Professor Dr. Salwan Ali Obaid, and on the occasion of World Suicide Prevention Day, the Environment and Pollution Prevention Unit held a scientific seminar entitled “Suicide Prevention.” The seminar was presented by Dr. Asmaa Maan Naama and Ms. Taif Mazhar Muslim.
The seminar aimed to shed light on this phenomenon from a humanitarian and social perspective to reduce the stigma associated with mental illness, create a supportive environment, raise awareness, and provide effective assistance.
Key recommendations included distributing awareness posters on suicide prevention, conducting a survey to identify the causes, building skills and guiding youth towards sports programs or activities, promoting dialogue with youth, and enhancing mental health.
