The Civil Engineering Department at the College of Engineering, Al-Qadisiyah University, organized a workshop entitled “Quality Control and Laboratory Testing of Asphalt Mixes to Improve Pavement Performance.” The workshop was presented by Assistant Lecturer Israa Riyadh Abdul-Ridha.
The workshop aimed to highlight modern methods for monitoring the quality of materials used in road construction and ensuring their compliance with international and local technical specifications. The workshop covered several topics, including laboratory testing, a review of the most important tests performed on asphalt and aggregates (gravel and sand) to ensure pavement durability, mix design, and an explanation of methods for designing the ideal asphalt mix that balances rigidity and flexibility to resist cracking and rutting.
