The Department of Highway and Transportation Engineering at the College of Engineering, Al-Qadisiyah University, organized a specialized scientific workshop entitled “The Effect of Using Compression Blocks on the Structural Behavior of Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) Concrete Beams.” The workshop, held in the Continuing Education Hall, was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Abeer Saeed.

The workshop aimed to highlight innovative engineering solutions for repairing and strengthening existing structures, and to introduce researchers and engineers to the latest developments in composite materials and their applications in infrastructure, thus contributing to extending the service life of structures and reducing maintenance costs.

The workshop also included an in-depth study of mechanisms to improve the structural efficiency of concrete beams, focusing on modern strengthening techniques and the use of fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) as an advanced alternative or complement to traditional reinforcing steel. It also addressed stress distribution and analyzed how adding compression blocks affects the stress distribution within the beam.
