The Statistics Department at the College of Administration and Economics, Al-Qadisiyah University, held a workshop entitled “Introduction to Turnitin and the Mechanisms for Writing Literature Reviews Using Artificial Intelligence.” The workshop was presented by Professor Nizar Kadhim Sabah, Professor Ahmed Naeem Faleh, and Assistant Professor Saif Hussam Raheem.
The workshop aimed to introduce researchers to the efficient use of Turnitin, explain how to analyze and scientifically process plagiarism reports, and enable postgraduate students to systematically organize and write summaries of previous studies. It also highlighted the role of artificial intelligence in supporting scientific research. The workshop covered the main interface of the Turnitin plagiarism detection program, explained its basic functions, and demonstrated how to read and analyze plagiarism reports to ensure academic integrity. The workshop also focused on methods for writing literature summaries for master’s theses and doctoral dissertations using artificial intelligence techniques, demonstrating how to employ them correctly to support researchers without compromising academic integrity. It recommended the systematic adoption of Turnitin before thesis and dissertation defenses, encouraging graduate students to use artificial intelligence as a research aid rather than a replacement for scholarly effort, and conducting advanced training workshops on academic writing and research ethics. The workshop also emphasized the importance of raising awareness about adhering to academic integrity at all stages of research.
