Under the patronage of the President of Al-Qadisiyah University, Professor Dr. Rahi Kalaf Mahdi Al-Yassiri, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, Professor Dr. Bashir Shaker Al-Awadi, the college held a scientific workshop entitled “The H-index Value Used in Scopus and Not Other Platforms.” The workshop was presented by Professor Dr. Alaa Khaldoun Zeidan and Dr. Bashar Hamid Abdulmajid. The workshop aimed to clarify the concept of the H-index and its importance in evaluating the scientific output of researchers and academic institutions, focusing on why its value is used in Scopus and not other databases and research platforms. It also addressed several topics, including the mechanism for calculating the H-index in Scopus, the fundamental differences between it and the values shown in other platforms such as Google Scholar and Web of Science, and the impact of varying coverage, indexing rules, and journal types on the index value.
