Assistant Professor Dr. Salam Mitham, Assistant Professor Dr. Saif Imad Akoubi, Dr. Zaid Hazem, and Dr. Zulfiqar Salem Hussein, from the College of Engineering at Al-Qadisiyah University, published a joint research paper entitled “A Comprehensive Structural Analysis of the Effect of Foundation Type on the Seismic Fragility of Concrete Gravity Dams” in the reputable international journal *Structures*. The research focused on evaluating the seismic fragility of concrete gravity dams, with an emphasis on the effect of different foundation boundary types in seismically active areas. Three two-dimensional (2D) models were developed using Abaqus software: a fixed-roller support model, an infinite element boundary model, and a viscous dashpot boundary model. Forty ground motion records were used in incremental dynamic analysis (IDA) with fuzzy damage indicator thresholds to characterize damage states and their potential exceedance.
The journal Structures is indexed in the first quartile (Q1) of Clarivate and Scopus and is published by Elsevier.
