The Human Rights Unit at the College of Law, Al-Qadisiyah University, organized the scientific seminar entitled “The Influence of Islamic Thought on the Principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.” The seminar featured presentations by Professor Dr. Ghanem Abdul Dahash Attia and Assistant Professor Dr. [Name Missing]. Mohammed Abdul Hamza Khawan
The symposium aimed to introduce Islamic thought as a comprehensive social, economic, and political revolution that changed the course of human history with its ideas that liberated humanity from injustice, slavery, exploitation, and subjugation.
The symposium concluded that the influence of Islamic thought, which predates the Universal Declaration by more than 1400 years, was clear and influential on the declaration issued in 1948.
The symposium recommended a clear focus on disseminating the principles of Islam globally, highlighting its profound human and ethical values as a guarantee of various human rights and freedoms in all political, economic, social, and cultural spheres. It also recommended addressing the most significant challenges, both old and new, facing human rights, namely the control exerted by major powers over the fate of humanity according to their own interests, without regard for the suffering of other peoples and nations afflicted by poverty, ignorance, terrorism, deprivation of resources, environmental pollution, internal wars, diseases, and other problems and challenges.
