Under the patronage of the President of Al-Qadisiyah University, Professor Dr. Rahi Kalaf Mahdi Al-Yasiri, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Arts, Professor Dr. Nabil Imran Musa Al-Khalidi, the Human Rights Unit at the College of Arts held a scientific seminar entitled “Protecting the Rights of People with Disabilities in Educational Institutions.” The seminar featured presentations by Assistant Professor Dr. Hussam Al-Yasiri, Lecturer Hassanein Ali Anoun, and Lecturer Mayasin Qaid Mayeh, and was moderated by Lecturer Tamadher Razzaq Abbas.
The seminar aimed to raise awareness among teaching and administrative staff about the importance of the rights of people with disabilities. It also aimed to promote an inclusive learning environment in educational institutions and to disseminate legal awareness regarding the obligations of educational institutions.
The seminar recommended the necessity of issuing an internal guide in each institution containing instructions on the rights of people with disabilities. It also recommended that educational institutions activate the role of psychological and educational support units for students with disabilities and that any entity failing to protect the rights of students with disabilities be held legally accountable.
