Under the patronage of the President of Al-Qadisiyah University, Professor Dr. Rahi Kalaf Mahdi Al-Yasiri, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Education, Professor Dr. Sattar Hamid Hamza Al-Janabi, the Department of History at the College of Education held a specialized scientific seminar entitled “Applied Insights into Historical Criticism.” The seminar featured presentations by Dr. Saeb Abdul Hamid, Professor Dr. Zuhair Yousef Alawi (chair), and Professor Dr. Waroud Nouri Al-Mousawi (rapporteur).
The seminar addressed several important themes, most notably the relationship between humanity and history through objective life experiences. It emphasized that history is not a static entity confined to a bygone era, but rather a dynamic force that has left its mark and influence on successive generations. From this perspective, it is understood that humanity is a historical being that interacts with time and imbues it with new meaning. Following discussions and scholarly contributions from faculty members and postgraduate students, the seminar concluded with several key findings, including the observation that ancient historical writing was largely focused on political matters, primarily the history of kings and sultans. Modern history, however, has focused on society and the details of public life, while also paying attention to the cultural aspects of each historical period.
