The Civil Engineering Department at the College of Engineering, Al-Qadisiyah University, organized a specialized training course entitled “Engineering Remediation of Flexible Pavement Defects.” The course was presented by Assistant Lecturers Sajjad Ali Karim and Sawsan Abdul-Jabbar Noumi.
The course aimed to enhance participants’ skills in diagnosing and analyzing problems encountered in asphalt paved roads (flexible pavements) and providing appropriate engineering solutions for addressing them. The course focused on the practical and theoretical aspects of classifying and identifying the types of defects that appear in flexible pavements, such as cracks, deformations, and potholes. It also covered the causes of these various defects and their relationship to design factors, materials, traffic flow, and environmental conditions. Modern engineering techniques are used to address these defects, ensuring road sustainability and improving service levels
