Under the patronage of the President of Al-Qadisiyah University, Professor Dr. Rahi Kalaf Mahdi Al-Yasiri, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Science, Professor Dr. Salwan Ali Obaid, the Psychological Counseling and Social Guidance Unit at the College of Science, in cooperation with the Iraqi Red Crescent Society in Diwaniyah, held a workshop entitled “First Aid.” The workshop was presented by Mr. Hassan Sabri Sarhan.
The workshop aimed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to save lives, prevent the worsening of conditions, and promote recovery by providing immediate care in emergencies. It also covered recognizing emergency situations and administering first aid.
Key recommendations included: ensuring the safety of the area before providing any assistance; verifying that the location is safe for both the individual and the injured person; quickly checking the victim’s consciousness; and confirming their breathing and pulse. If there is no breathing or pulse, begin cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) immediately and seek emergency medical assistance right away. This will ensure that specialized help arrives as quickly as possible.
