The College of Law at Al-Qadisiyah University pays special attention to water management within the framework of sustainable development, recognizing the importance of this vital resource in supporting both university life and the environment. Driven by its vision of achieving a “green campus,” the college has adopted an integrated policy aimed at optimal water use through the application of modern technologies and innovative systems for recycling, storage, and sustainable irrigation.

In this context, the college has implemented modern sprinkler irrigation systems instead of traditional irrigation, significantly reducing the amount of water consumed for watering green spaces. This step is one of the college’s most prominent practices in conserving natural resources and enhancing the efficiency of environmental management on campus.

Efforts also included developing the water infrastructure through a comprehensive upgrade of the water tap network and sanitary facilities, and replacing old fixtures with water-saving ones. During the COVID-19 pandemic, new handwashing and sanitation facilities were added to ensure a safe and healthy environment in line with public safety standards.

Another outstanding initiative is the construction of a small tank to filter and recycle used water for garden irrigation. This contributes to reducing reliance on external water sources and promoting the concept of sustainable water use.

Thanks to these measures, the College of Law at Al-Qadisiyah University has established a solid foundation for efficient water management, in accordance with the global GreenMetric indicators. This embodies its commitment to implementing sustainable development principles across all aspects of its infrastructure and daily operations. The college has thus become a role model for Iraqi universities in the field of sustainable water resource management, affirming that water conservation is not merely an environmental practice, but rather an institutional culture and a collective responsibility for the future.
