The course focused on environmental, noise, biological, and food pollution, the causes, types, and concentrations of pollutants, air pollution, atmospheric pollution, and its impact on human health. It also addressed possible solutions to reduce emissions from sources causing air pollution.

The course defined environmental pollution as an increase in the proportion of energy in an ecosystem, such as radiation, heat, and noise, or an increase in the quantity of various materials in liquid, solid, or gaseous forms, such that the system loses its ability to analyze, disperse, recycle, or convert them into harmless substances. Environmental pollution was divided into three main categories: soil pollution, water pollution, and air pollution. Modern societies have also included other types of environmental pollution, such as:

* Light pollution

* Plastic pollution

* and noise pollution.

Environmental pollution is a global problem because it affects various types of life, causing numerous negative consequences for human health and well-being. It also has negative effects on the environment and the lives of all living organisms. All living organisms, large and small, depend on the Earth’s components, including water and air, and their pollution exposes these organisms to danger. Environmental pollutants also affect urban areas more than rural areas.
