Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Assistant Professor Dr. Asaad Hassan Al-Zaidi,
the Sustainable Development Unit at the College of Pharmacy, University of Al-Qadisiyah, launched an awareness campaign on breast cancer and early detection. This campaign coincides with the Pink October activities. The campaign aims to raise health awareness among women and instill a culture of regular screening to protect women and society.
During the campaign, the Unit emphasized that early detection is the cornerstone of breast cancer treatment, as cure rates rise to more than 95% when the disease is detected in its early stages. She emphasized that the responsibility for prevention begins with awareness, knowledge, and early detection.
She explained that this campaign aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3, related to good health and well-being, and Goal 5, related to women’s empowerment. She indicated that women’s health is an essential component of societal sustainability and a key pillar in achieving social and economic balance. The campaign included health awareness segments, an explanation of the steps for monthly self-examination, and an encouragement for women to undergo regular mammograms, especially those over the age of 40 or those with genetic risk factors.
At the end of the campaign, we urge all women to take proactive steps to protect themselves.
