The Department of Public Law at the College of Law at Al-Qadisiyah University held a scientific symposium entitled “Constitutional Developments in Iraq.” Professor Adnan Ajil Obaid and Professor Ghanem Abdul Dahsh lectured at the symposium.
The symposium aimed to shed light on the pivotal moments in the country’s constitutional history and highlight their impact on the 2005 Constitution of the Republic of Iraq, a democratic constitution whose approval was granted to the people in the 2005 popular referendum.
The symposium concluded that the grave political events and the military’s seizure of power plunged the country into a state of conspiracies, resulting in a distorted constitutional life from 1958 until the catastrophic occupation of 2003.
The symposium recommended the necessity of adopting democratic means for the peaceful transfer of power through parliamentary elections and avoiding political and military coups and the resulting woes
