As part of a series of scientific activities aimed at developing the skills of teaching and engineering staff, the Department of Road and Transportation Engineering at the College of Engineering at Al-Qadisiyah University held a specialized training workshop entitled “Parking Studies.” The workshop was presented by Prof. Dr. Jalal Taqi Shaker and M.M. Rania Ali Badr
The workshop primarily aimed to enhance the participating staff’s knowledge of basic traffic engineering concepts and develop their skills in analyzing and designing parking spaces. This comes within the framework of efforts to contribute to reducing traffic congestion and achieving smooth flow and safety within cities and university campuses.
The workshop also addressed a set of key topics, including the concept of parking spaces and their types, the main terms used in parking studies, methods for collecting and analyzing parking data, and a review of the negative effects resulting from poor parking organization.
