The symposium was titled “The Geological Environment of Al-Qadisiyah Governorate and the Potential for Investment and Development.” Presented by Prof. Dr. Rahman Ribat Hussein and Asst. Dr. Hussein Ali Fahd, the session was moderated by Prof. Dr. Khaled Marzouq.

The symposium aimed to examine the geological structure of Al-Qadisiyah Governorate, study the spatial distribution of mineral resources in the study area, and identify the most important of these resources. It also highlighted the potential for investing in these resources to establish and develop construction industries and identify industries that can rely on them as raw materials, both presently and in the future.

The symposium concluded with a set of conclusions, including that there is spatial variation in the distribution of mineral resources in the study area. These resources play a significant role in the development of construction industries, and their spatial variations in The governorate and the diversity of mineral resources in Al-Qadisiyah Governorate, which has large reserves amounting to (55) million tons of limestone, more than (2) million tons of cement clay (kaolin), and (63) million tons of brick clay. These represent raw materials for the construction industries. When studying the period of depletion of the available mineral resources, it became clear that Al-Qadisiyah Governorate possesses large reserves of them, as it is capable of supplying it with raw materials for a period of up to (65) years on average, and therefore it has great importance in the development of the construction industries.
