Under the patronage of the President of Al-Qadisiyah University, Professor Dr. Rahi Kalf Mahdi Al-Yasiri, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Education, Professor Dr. Sattar Hamid Hamza Al-Janabi, the Women’s Affairs Unit, in cooperation with the Department of Media and Government Communication at the college, held a panel discussion entitled “Choosing the Appropriate Major for a Successful Future: The Pillar of Prevention and Protection.” Presented by M.M. Zaman Hassan Abis, M.M. Mohammed Jalawi, M.M. Fatima Saeed Hamza, and M.M. Salam Abbas Eidan
The session aimed to raise students’ awareness of the importance of making informed choices regarding their university major, promoting a culture of early planning for their professional and academic future, demonstrating the impact of university majors on personal and societal development, and highlighting the relationship between academic majors and labor market requirements.
The most important conclusions were that choosing a proper major contributes to academic success and psychological stability. There is also an urgent need to activate the role of academic guidance within colleges, as well as the need to inform students of the requirements of each major and its future prospects.
