The College of Medicine at Al-Qadisiyah University held a workshop entitled:
((Where do we stand with regard to national accreditation?))
The workshop was attended by:
– Prof. Dr. Manal Mohammed Kazim
– Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Abdul Majeed Mustafa
– Asst. Prof. Dr. Sahar Abdul-Ilah Al-Birmani
The workshop was held in the college’s conference hall, and was attended by the University President, the Dean of the College, a number of faculty members, heads of academic departments, department and unit officials, and representatives of the Medical Education Unit.
The workshop aims to:
* Evaluate the College of Medicine at Al-Qadisiyah University’s compliance with the national accreditation standards issued by the National Accreditation Council for Medical Colleges in Iraq (NCAMC).
* Raise awareness of the importance of national accreditation as a fundamental step in improving the quality of medical education.
*Analysis of the evidence and documents submitted as evidence against the nine national accreditation standards.
*Development of a roadmap for completing the requirements for the national accreditation application.
The workshop included the following topics:
• A detailed explanation of the first three national accreditation standards.
• A review of the college’s current status according to each standard.
• Discussion of mechanisms for preparing a self-report and improvement plan.
The workshop recommended the following:
• Under the direction of the esteemed university president, it was agreed to establish an electronic platform through which periodic workshops would be held for faculty members and administrative staff on accreditation requirements and implementation mechanisms.
• Continuous coordination with the National Council and requesting feedback and technical guidance throughout the accreditation process.
• Preparing an institutional self-assessment report according to the template approved by the National Council.
• Designing an electronic platform for holding periodic workshops
