Under the patronage of the President of Al-Qadisiyah University, Professor Dr. Rahi Kalf Mahdi Al-Yasiri, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Dentistry, Professor Dr. Ali Hassan Ali Murad, the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Dentistry held a workshop entitled “Unhealthy Oral Habits in Children.” Presented by dental trainees Saja Mohsen Jaber, Adian Basem Hadi, Bayan Falah Fadhel, Zahraa Hassan Jassim, and Murtada Fares Haddab.
The workshop aimed to enhance the skills of dentists in dealing with children with unhealthy oral habits by understanding the associated health challenges and adapting the dental treatment plan to suit their health condition to ensure their safety and the quality of care provided.
The workshop recommended documenting the patient’s complete medical history before starting any treatment, reviewing current medications to ensure there are no drug interactions, coordinating with the treating physician for chronic conditions when necessary, modifying the dental treatment plan to suit the patient’s condition, and monitoring vital signs before and during the session.
