A workshop was held at the College of Pharmacy at Al-Qadisiyah University on the importance of Iraqi women’s participation in the legislative elections.

Under the patronage of the President of Al-Qadisiyah University, Professor Dr. Rahi Kallaf Mahdi Al-Yasiri, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Assistant Professor Dr. Asaad Hassan Al-Zaidi, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Pharmacy organized a workshop entitled “The Importance of Iraqi Women’s Participation in the Legislative Elections.” Assistant Professor Dr. Awlia Jabbar Sahib

The workshop addressed the role of women’s participation in strengthening the overall legitimacy of the democratic system by representing all segments of Iraqi society, on the one hand, and improving the quality of decisions by integrating diverse viewpoints into policymaking.

The workshop also highlighted the fact that women’s empowerment and confidence are enhanced through their participation in elections as candidates, voters, workers in electoral institutions, or observers of election integrity.

The workshop recommended the need to train women in political discourse and raise community awareness that women’s roles extend beyond the family, particularly in holding public office and participating in political life.
