Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Rahi Kalf Mahdi Al-Yasiri, President of Al-Qadisiyah University, and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Munir Abdul Amir Abdul Fatlawi, Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, the Department of Microbiology at the college held a seminar on parasite resistance to environmental conditions. Professor Dr. Numan Naji Al-Hijami presented the seminar.
The seminar aimed to highlight the methods and strategies used by pathogenic parasites, both unicellular and multicellular, to resist external and internal environmental conditions (within the host body).
The seminar also included an introduction to the critical conditions facing parasites, such as extreme temperatures, drought, and host immunity, as well as the chemical agents used against them in the form of treatments.
The seminar recommended the need to study the resistance shown by parasites, particularly against the body’s immunity or against therapeutic agents, and to find alternatives, such as vaccines or treatments, to eliminate parasites and thus control their diseases, which affect both humans and animals.
