Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Rahi Kalf Mahdi Al-Yasiri, President of Al-Qadisiyah University, and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Munir Abdul Amir Abdul Fatlawi, Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, the Department of Veterinary Microbiology at the college held a seminar on protein measurement using the biuret test. Professor Sabreen Nouri Dakman presented the seminar.
The seminar aimed to provide participants with basic skills for estimating protein concentration in biological samples using the biuret test. It also sought to clarify the chemical foundations of this test and link it to the concepts of bioanalysis.
The seminar also included an introduction to the working principle of the biuret test, which is used to measure protein concentration. The materials and equipment used were presented, as well as how to prepare the reagents and apply them to samples. The mechanism of the chemical reaction between protein and biuret reagent, which produces a purple color indicating the presence of peptide bonds, was discussed.
