Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Rahi Kalf Mahdi Al-Yasiri, President of Al-Qadisiyah University, and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Munir Abdul Amir Abdul Fatlawi, Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, the Department of Physiology and Biochemistry at the college held a scientific symposium on chemical testing of plants. Professor Jinan Abdul Amir Subaih Al-Husseini lectured at the symposium.

The symposium aimed to chemically test plants to detect active compounds that may have therapeutic or nutritional benefits. This study also contributes to identifying biologically active compounds such as alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, terpenes, and anthraquinones, which may be used in drug development or as nutritional supplements.

The most important recommendations are to encourage further research on local plants to discover new and medically effective compounds. The chemical testing is a necessary first step before moving on to biological or clinical trials. Collaboration between researchers in the fields of phytochemistry and pharmacology is needed to develop preparations based on the results of plant testing. It is also important to support laboratories and research institutions with the necessary equipment to conduct plant chemical testing. Efficiently
