The Department of Chemical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering at Al-Qassim University organized a scientific workshop entitled (Industrial Cities and Their Impact on Investment) in the Continuing Education Unit Hall. Prof. Dr. Abbas Khalaf Muhammad and Eng. Nour Sharif Subaih
The workshop included defining what is meant by industrial zones, their role in development, and the experiences of some semi-industrial and developing countries distinguished by their economic success in establishing industrial zones. It also highlighted the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s experience in this field, where industrial zones have proven successful in raising industrial standards, building industrial capacity, and accelerating the process of technology transfer associated with medium- and high-tech industries with advanced global competitiveness. This has contributed to the development of semi-industrial and developing countries (distinguished by their economic success) in which these zones were established.
The workshop emphasized the important role of engineering colleges in supporting sustainable industrial development through scientific research and providing appropriate engineering solutions.
The workshop concluded with a set of scientific recommendations that will contribute to the development of public policies related to the establishment of industrial cities and the stimulation of local and foreign investment.
