Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Rahi Kalf Mahdi Al-Yasiri, President of Al-Qadisiyah University, and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Hayawi Waheed Attia Al-Jawdari, Dean of the College of Agriculture, the College of Agriculture held an awareness-raising workshop entitled “The Health and Psychological Effects of Smoking.” Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Jassim presented the workshop.
The workshop aimed to highlight that smoking is a form of addiction that has numerous health and psychological effects on smokers. It is an uncivilized phenomenon with negative repercussions on society. It affects smokers in several ways. On the health level, it can lead to diseases such as cancer, liver cirrhosis, and nerve damage. On the psychological level, it can lead to nerve damage, fatigue, and depression. Furthermore, it is an uncivilized phenomenon.
