Under the patronage of the President of Al-Qadisiyah University, Professor Dr. Rahi Kalf Mahdi Al-Yasiri, and under the supervision of the Assistant President for Academic Affairs, Professor Dr. Sattar Abdul-Hassan Jabbar Al-Fatlawi, and with the follow-up of the Dean of the College of Science, Professor Dr. Salwan Ali Obaid Al-Hamzawi, the College of Science hosted a training course entitled “Sign Language and its Psychological and Social Impact.” In cooperation with the Authority for the Care of People with Disabilities in Diwaniyah, the course featured lecturers Mr. Jolan Hussein Khalil, Mr. Samer Mohammed, M.P. Roaa Amer, M.P. Zainab Khadir, and Ms. Hiba Mohammed. The course aimed to introduce the basics of sign language and its impact on the psychological, familial, and social aspects of people with disabilities, including the deaf and mute. The course recommended paying attention to people with disabilities, as they represent an important segment of society, providing an opportunity to demonstrate their presence through field participation, and activating the learning of sign language to respond to social communication skills and provide support to the Institute for the Deaf and Mute, especially the Al-Amal Institute for the Deaf and Mute in Diwaniyah.
